Why High Voltage?
We all know that helping young people build life skills can be tricky, especially when those skills seem boring or are taught in a style that doesn't work for them. But the problem isn't ability, most just need a reason and format that helps them to want to learn.
High Voltage courses are carefully designed to use existing passions as the starting point for learning and delivered by experienced facilitators to help make learning an extension of their passions. Our style of support is designed to give each individual an experience that excites and motivates, helping them intuitively pick up and practice important skills like problem solving, communication, resilience and more.
They're not dragging their feet on the way to an English lesson, they're excited to figure out the next story-arc for their character. Learning to code becomes figuring out how to make a Minecraft world start raining TNT and seeing the chaos unfold.
When learning feels like play, who wouldn't want to keep going?
1. Start Pre-Motivated
Start with a good reason to learn by picking courses based existing passions, with projects they're genuinely interested in.
2. Learn by Working Toward the Goal
Bring the course project to life by building your skills. As skills are built, the project begins to take shape, allowing visual feedback to keep engagement high and reinforce learning by showing tangible progression.
3. Finish with Something Tangible
Finally, we bring the course into the real world having finished a project we can see, touch and feel proud of. Whether that's a script or character for a game, a 3D print, or even discovering a whole new play style and perspective through D&D. Just like in life every finish line is really a new starting point, and with greater resilience and a leveled-up set of skills we're ready for whatever they choose next.
